Gruen Day

A collaboration between 99% Invisible and the Bay Area Infrastructure Observatory, Gruen Day was organized on July 18, 2015 to celebrate the inventor of the modern shopping mall, Victor Gruen. I worked with the organizers to design and produce two jewelry-grade lapel pins that were gifted to attendees. There’s one of his face smoking a big golden plume, and one for the mallrats, inspired by a misreading of “Gruen Day” as “Green Day”.

Victor Gruen pins are also available at E.M. Wolfman in Oakland and on Etsy.
