Trickster at the End of a World

Trickster at the End of a World follows the author into the tall grasses of uncertainty and the spaces between realms. Guided by an obsession with coyotes and in search of things lost, I position the highly adaptive wild canid and its oft-mythologized archetype of the Trickster as a mirror, foil, and portal. Traveling down side paths and through loopholes to examine wilderness, entanglement, and dwelling in the margins, Trickster at the End of a World is a field guide for relearning how to be an animal in the aftermath of rupture.

Trickster at the End of a World was first presented as a Main Stage visual lecture performance at ICON11: The Illustration Conference in Kansas City, Missouri in July 2022. A grant from the San Francisco Arts Commission made this book adaptation possible.

Trickster at the End of a World was written, designed, and illustrated by myself, and beautifully printed, assembled, and published in June 2026 in an edition of 300 by Sming Sming Books.
